Environmental Management System

Macedonian industry’s export and also domestic market have an increasing focus on the environmental impact of industrial production. Tender announcementsoften requests the bidding companies to document that it has an internal system in place that addresses the environmental aspects of the company operations. In addition the Macedonian industry will in near future have to comply with EU legislation related to environment. In order to prepare the Macedonian industry for future EU obligations and become more competitive, CCEI provides training in implementing Environmental Management Systems (EMS).

EMS is a systematic way of managing an organization’s environmental affairs. The system follows a Plan-Do-Check-Act Cycle with focus on continuous improvement of the organization’s environmental performance.

The EMS training provided by CCEI is arranged over 3 phases:

Phase 1: Introduction seminar on EMS
Phase 2: Two free of charge workshops on EMS for representatives of Macedonian industry
Phase 3: Technical assistance to 4 companies that took part in phase 2 and are dedicated to
implement EMS in close future. Case-companies selected base on competition.
Phase 4: Monitoring of the 4 case companies and dissemination of lessons-learned

The technical assistance in phase 3 will be provided by local EMS consultants, supported by experts from Norsk Energi. Local expert will this way get the opportunity to build references in the field of EMS, and may this way support other companies in Macedonia in the future.
