The Project “Cleaner and More Cost Effective Industry in Macedonia” is 3 year program offering Macedonian industry technical assistance in identifying environmentally sound energy projects and preparing these projects for financing. The project is funded by the Norwegian Government and is implemented by a consortium consisting of Norsk Energi, NGO Centre for Climate Changes and National Cleaner Production Centre Macedonia.

 

Call for for companies interested to participate in the Energy Efficiency component in the programme “Cleaner and more cost effective industry in Macedonia”

Cleaner and more cost effective industry in Macedonia is a 3 year programme funded by the Norwegian Government. The aim of the programme is to improve the environmental performance of the Macedonian industry and thus enable it to be more competitive on the market and to comply with new regulations. The project is implemented by a consortium consisting of Norsk Energi, NGO Centre for Climate Changes and National Cleaner Production Centre Macedonia.

The main components of the programme are:
1. Technical assistance to industry in identifying and developing projects on energy efficiency
2. Technical assistance and training on environmental management systems
3. Student exchange for practical training

Component 1 of the programme is to provide the industry in Macedonia with technical assistance to identify energy efficiency projects and develop project documentation required for obtaining financing.

In the first phase of the programme 5 companies have been involved identifying and developing energy efficiency projects. Currently it is possible for new companies to apply to participate in Component 1 of the programme.


For the companies participating, pre-feasibility studies will be prepared by technical experts and company representatives. The goal of the pre-feasibility studies is to identify feasible energy efficiency projects in the companies, and to recommend which measures to focus on in the future. For some of these measures business plans will be developed. The final business plans may be presented for financing institutions.

Free of charge training for implementation of Environmental Management System

Implementation Consortium consisting of Norwegian Company Norsk Energi, Center for Climate Changes and National Cleaner Croduction Center, established for the purpose of implementation of the project “Cleaner and more cost effective industry in Macedonia” in cooperation with the Economic Chamber of Macedonia are organizing free of charge trainings related to implementation of Environmental Management Systems (EMS) in Macedonian industry.

The objective of this training is to help the industry with the implementation of the EMS and in that way to become more competitive on the market, increase environmental performance and awareness and to be prepared for implementation of the European environmental legislation. According to the plan, 4 workshops will be held starting from December this year until September 2010, with approved experts from Norway.

These workshops will cover all elements that are necessary to enable a company to implement EMS. The workshops are designed to ensure that the representatives from the companies attending will receive quality information and training about EMS; and give practical assistance and guidance in planning and performing the EMS implementation process. 

Participants in these workshops should primarily be persons with environmental responsibilities within the company, e.g. environmental manager, sustainability manager or HSE managers.

Data that should be put in this application are needed in order to determine what is that your company need and how we can provide it. All the data that will be put in the application form are strictly for our data base and are confidential.

We also would like to note that the training is free of charge and it is implemented within the frame of the project “Cleaner and more costeffective industry in Macedonia” which is financed by the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affair. After finishing the training the companies are not obliged to certify according to some of the Environmental Management Systems (ISO 14001 or EMAS).
